Desiree (Leek) Shapiro, MD

Class of 2001

Dr. Shapiro cares for patients in the pediatric inpatient unit, crisis stabilization unit, and emergency room at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA. She is passionate about promoting wellness in youth, families, and our community, and is also dedicated to training the next generation of psychiatrists as a UCSD faculty member.

Lolan Sevilla

Class of 1994

Ms. Sevilla is a cultural worker and organizer who strives to root her art in community, study and practice. She co-chairs the Board of Directors of the Coalition Against Anti-Asian Violence (CAAAV): Organizing Asian Communities and works as the Training Coordinator for the New York City Anti-Violence Project. She is also the published author of Translating New Brown and Walang Hiya … Literature Taking Risks Towards Liberatory Practice.

Melissa Galinato, PhD

Class of 2007

Dr. Galinato earned her PhD from the UCSD Neurosciences Graduate Program. Her dissertation focused on drug addition and drug-related memory. Next she plans to earn a Masters in Public Health, and then dedicate her career to using her knowledge and skills to improve the health and well being of the community.

Emily (Knox) Greer

Class of 2003

Ms. Greer has a knack for findng creative solutions to design problems. Her recent work includes creating the graphics and art direction for UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion and Spieker Aquatics Center. She also uses her art and design skills to support local charities and new businesses, and coordinates the Aaron Price Fellows Alumni Program’s Los Angeles Chapter.

Jean-Paul Nguyen

Class of 1995

Mr. Nguyen travels the world as an International Program Director for Raytheon. He works with factories, suppliers, and team mates around the globe to ensure his program portfolio supports the needs of Air Force and Navy forces in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Todd Gloria

Class of 1996

Assemblymember Todd Gloria was elected in November 2016 to represent the 78th District in the CA State Assembly. Previously, he served as a Councilmember and Interim Mayor for the City of San Diego. He is respected for his work on affordable housing and homelessness issues, and known as one of San Diego’s thoughful, collaborative and accessible elected officials. His works is guided by the principle that if you truly care about something, you should leave it better than you found it.
